GREATER CHARLOTTE AREA HOT STOVE LEAGUE AWARD WINNERS NAMED

The First Annual Greater Charlotte Area Hot Stove League Dinner is off to a great start.  Since announcing the event last month, over 60% of the available tickets have been purchased.  We wish we had room for everyone, but there are only a limited number of tickets available.  We have had a lot of folks to purchase tickets as Christmas Presents for family members.  If you would like to do this, we can send you a nice gift form you can present on Christmas Morning.  

In addition to the corporate tables and individual seats, we have three levels of sponsorship for this event available.  Each level includes naming opportunities and the event is still available for a corporation to serve as the Presenting Sponsor of the event.   The Hot Stove League is a Non-Profit organization offering tax deductable options for corporations.  Your help will go along way in helping us to build a successful Miracle League of Charlotte chapter.

As promised, we are adding more major league players to our lists of special guests appearing at the Hot Stove Dinner.   Check our website for more additions leading up to the event.

Ryan Morris, a 2006 fourth round draft pick of the Cleveland Indians.  Ryan, a lefthanded pitcher,  graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 2006.  His control and ability to record strikeouts have impressed the Cleveland Indians top scouts. 

Eric Tokunaga,  an international scout for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of the Japanese League.  Eric has also worked as a scout for major league baseball teams in the past.  His role for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks is to located available talent in the United States for the team.

Michael Shildt, an area scouting supervisor and minor league instructor with  the St. Louis Cardinals. Prior to the Cardinals. As an assistant coach at UNC Charlotte he helped lead the 49ers in 1998 to school records in wins and batting average that still exist.  Shildt opened and operated On Deck Baseball Academy from 2000-2003 helping over 50 players receive Division 1 scholarships. 

These two professionals join David Mailman, Brandon Williams,  Jon Adkins, Jake Robbins, Dusty Wathan, Stu Cole, and Jeff Schaefer on the list of professional players that will attend the Hot Stove League.  We will add new names to this list each issue.

We have received numerous emails and phone calls from folks wanting to help make this a successful event and raise money for our charity partner, The Miracle League.  Here area a few ways you can help.

AUCTION ITEMS:  We are currently soliciting auction items for our silent auction to help raise funds for The Miracle League.  If you would like to donate an item from your company or a piece of sports memorabilia, please call Tripp Roakes @ 704-906-5466. Donating an item is a great way to market your company as well as help us to raise funds for the Miracle League.

David Mailman, a lefthanded-hitting first baseman and outfielder, was selected by the Boston Red Sox as the 20th pick of the seventh round and the 234th player taken overall. The 2007 Providence High School graduate was the fourth high school first baseman selected and the 10th overall.

Brandon Williams, a Fort Mill High School graduate is the perfect definition of a diamond in the rough.   After pitching only 7 innings of High School baseball Brandon was seen and signed by USC-Upstate.  After achieving great success in college, Brandon’s dream of becoming a professional baseball player became true.  He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 29th round and is currently playing in their minor league system.
